A Baby Story

For those of you who have followed my pregnancy, this blog is a major update!

If you haven't followed closely, here's the backstory.

I was hospitalized in July for a complication with my pregnancy. At only 23 weeks, the main goal was keeping me healthy and keeping me pregnant for as long as possible. The photo above is me on August 1st, celebrating my 30th birthday at the hospital's "Healing Garden."

There were ups and downs along the way, and then I made it to week 28! A huge milestone, as that is the beginning of the third trimester! However, baby Renée sent us signals over and over, letting us know it was her time to be born! On August 12, 2019 at 4:12 PM, Renée Lily Anderson was born. Weighing just 800 grams (less than 2 pounds) my baby girl made her entrance!

Renée is now one week old, and she's been doing amazing things in the NICU since day one! She's been breathing on her own, and impressing the nurses+docs with her daily checkups. She uses a cpap while sleeping, but doesnt need oxygen!

Just coming in contact with her is absolutely electric! Whether she's holding my finger or I'm holding her feet, it has a huge impact on both of us. I get skin-to-skin sessions with her as often as I can, and when I'm away, I'm busy working on building up her supply of milk!

I am now trying to balance my self care + healing from surgery, as well as being there at the NICU with Renée and being with the big kids and hubby. After spending 40 days in the hospital, I have a lot of catching up to do! Totally wishing I could be in two places at once these days!

I thank God for our support system (including our family/friends & the hospital and NICU staff). I am so grateful for everyone involved in this journey!

I will update again whenever I can. In the meantime, no news is good news!
