I mentioned amigurumi in my last blog, but I know that not everyone knows what this is, so let’s talk about it!
From Wikipedia - Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures. The word is a compound of the Japanese words 編み ami, meaning "crocheted or knitted", and 包み kurumi, literally "wrapping", as in 縫い包み nuigurumi " stuffed doll". Amigurumi vary in size and there are no restrictions about size or look.
Examples of amigurumi I’ve made in the past include animals, dolls, characters, food, and toys. I’ve found that I love making dolls the most, but I enjoy making other things too! See images below for a few examples of past projects.
Updates
Yesterday I released the updated version of the first amigurumi pattern I’d ever published! The Mini Doll, quite an ambitious first pattern for a novice designer, is the foundation of all subsequent doll patterns I’ve made—including The Nova Doll, my first eBook, and the Michelle Obama Doll, my first amigurumi commission with a crafting company. I’ve been experiencing A LOT of firsts these days and it’s making me feel like much more well-rounded artist.
Right now, I’m currently working on orders from my Sea Life Collection. Those will start getting shipped out next week! I’m also getting ready to put together some new and simple amigurumi designs. I’m in the sketch phase, the sample production phase is up next, and then comes the pattern testing phase.
